New phone, e-mail for League compliance services
The Ohio Credit Union League has enhanced its compliance hotline and e-mail services in order to better serve the compliance needs of Ohio’s credit unions. The League takes its compliance obligations seriously, and has refined its compliance and regulatory services by creating a dedicated hotline and e-mail address exclusively for compliance queries and questions.

 

Where CUs connect: ZENITH registration open
Registration is now open for the single event that connects you with credit union peers, ideas and information, business partners, compliance information, credit union philosophy, thought leaders, and regulatory officials -- the Ohio Credit Union League ZENITH10, April 15-16, in Cincinnati. The agenda is comparable in substance and value to any national-level event. In two days, you’ll talk to, learn from, and collaborate with some of the nation’s brightest minds about the most cutting-edge ideas and issues.

 

Open-forum annual “town hall” meetings set for fall
Mark your calendar to attend one of the six “Town Hall” meetings throughout the state this fall hosted by the Ohio Credit Union League. The meetings are part of the League’s commitment to a continued open dialogue with all Ohio credit unions.

 

FoolProof: Blanket hundreds with financial education in one swoop
Want to improve the lives of Ohio’s youth by providing financial education, but hindered by limited staff resources? Wish your financial education outreach efforts could blanket hundreds of local students at a time? FoolProof, a new online financial literacy tool endorsed by the Ohio Credit Union League, is a solution that enables credit unions to reach large audiences and overcome staffing obstacles. The turnkey outreach tool has been added to the League’s comprehensive financial education program to help credit unions deliver much needed financial knowledge and project tangible examples of their philosophical mission to improve lives.

 

OCUF grants $30,000 to Emmy-winning Biz Kid$ for Season 4
The Emmy and Herb Wegner Memorial Awards-winning Biz Kid$ has received a $30,000 grant from the Ohio Credit Union Foundation (OCUF) to help underwrite Season 4 of the youth-focused and credit union-funded financial education program on public television.

 

Program combines CU philosophy and action steps
Dive into a week-long intense discovery and exploration of the impressive power and fraternity of the Credit Union Movement that is described as a life-changing experience. The National Credit Union Foundation’s Credit Union Development Education (DE) Program is an innovative learning experience that focuses on the relevance of “People Helping People.”

The Ohio Credit Union League’s Boards of Directors elected their 2010 officers during the February quarterly meetings.

 

Forming Latino CU in Toledo seeks CEO
Candidates are being sought to serve as the Chief Executive Officer of Nueva Esperanza (New Hope) Community Credit Union, a proposed state-chartered credit union in Toledo.

 

Friday the deadline for state awards nominations
Nominations for the Ohio Credit Union League’s 2010 Leadership Awards are due Friday, Feb. 26, at noon. Every credit union is encouraged to nominate its achievements for recognition in the state’s premier awards program. The annual awards program recognizes the outstanding achievements of volunteers, professionals, credit unions, and chapters.

 

Shared Branching network reaches 4,000 location milestone
Nearly 1.5 million or 56% of Ohio’s credit union members can conduct basic account transactions at 4,000 Shared Branching locations throughout the United States, including 281 in Ohio.

CMG debuts online plastic card risk assessment tool
A new online risk assessment program is available to CUNA Mutual Group’s (CMG) more than 4,600 credit union Plastic Card insurance policyholders. The tool helps credit unions assess their Plastic Card program risks and indicates whether a credit union’s program is in a good, fair, or cautionary state of security.

Township officials leveraged to build support for HB 317
Leaders of several Ohio credit unions and the Ohio Credit Union League staffed a booth in the Ohio Township Trustees Association Convention’s expo hall to promote credit unions as a choice of depositories for public funds. Information and literature about House Bill 317 and the benefits of credit unions were distributed to the more than 1,500 township officials from across Ohio in attendance.

 

League meets with editorial board on MBL legislation
Over the past two years, the Ohio Credit Union League has conducted dozens of meetings with members of the media to help spread the credit union message. Last week, Central Ohio credit union leaders and League officials had the rare opportunity to meet with the editorial board of Business First of Columbus.
